Hope makes you fly
But euphoria fades
The bill comes due
And you lose faith
Looking at some pictures
Reading some stories
Hearing accomplishments
Is like contemplating
The cadaver of my dead dreams
I don't want to hear them
Reject their empathy
Turns sour in my mouth
They pretend mourning with me
A loved one they never knew
They haven't earned the sadness
They don't deserve the shame
Their duty is silence
Yesterday you didn't care
Tomorrow you will have forgotten
I live with the absence
A grief shared with others
You don't see their tears
You don't hear their cries
Yet they sob and wail
Never in front of your eyes
What is absent for you
Is with me all the time
Those who have disappeared
Walk with my every step
While You may not see them
I see where they are not
When will it be my turn?
The threat echoes inside
Is my shield good enough?
Is my will unbending?
I… am not
Not a warrior
Not a fighter
Not a guide, not a example
Not an inspiration, a hero, a brave one, a lesson, a pioneer, a good one
Not your pal, your comrade, your kin, your friend, your ally, your conscience nor a nice one!
Just… a survivor
